TONAWANDA SCHOOLS: Student film fest held for charity The talents of aspiring film directors and their performers will be on display tonight when the

Student Leadership group at Tonawanda High School hosts its third annual student film festival.Seven films, ranging from 90-second public service announcements to a 30-minute feature short film will be displayed in the high school auditorium.Proceeds from the event will support the leadership group&8217s Uganda Water Project. The group hopes to raise $3,000 to help provide clean water.Group advisor Julie Schork said the money would fund a water tank to collect rain water and provide a source for drinking water.Topics include public service announcements about heart disease and suicide prevention music videos, a dramatic narrative and short comedy films.Six awards will be given out in areas such as best acting and editing.A &8220Fan Favorite&8221 award will also be presented. The audience may &8220vote&8221 for its favorite film by making a donation to the water project, placing their contributions in one of seven bins. Each bin is individually labeled for the films. The bin/film with the most money collected will determine the fan favorite.The event begins at 6 p.m. and is expected to run about two hours. Admission is $2 for students, $3 for adults.
