Golfers hit links for good causes 2009: Annual Investors

Golfers hit links for good causes

The field is full for the annual Investors Group Rotary Charity Golf Classic, one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Moncton

West Riverview Rotary Club. But that doesn't mean late-comers will be left out of the fun, with tickets for tonight's dinner, and this evening's silent and live auctions, still available for those who are looking to contribute to the club's good works and enjoy a fine evening of fun and prizes at the same time. The fact the tourney itself is sold out speaks to its popularity, says event chairman Ty Steeves. "We like to think it's probably one of the top events in the region," Steeves says. Their goal is to raise $45,000, a record amount, for the Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club's many good causes, including Moncton Headstart and Moncton Youth Residences. The 36 teams of four players will take to the lavish Royal Oaks tees and greens this morning. The action on the course will be followed by a silent auction, with a live auction set to follow tonight's dinner which has tickets still available at $40 per person.

Besides providing a full day and evening of fun and a lot of support for several good causes, the tournament also helps benevolent organizations like Moncton Headstart and Moncton Youth Residences to better connect with the public and with the business community, as representatives of the organizations will be on hand at Royal Oaks to meet with participants.
