3:05pm Sunday 10th May 2009 A WOMAN was today honoured for completing the Marlow 5 run – a year after a double hip operation.
Organisers gave a special award to Jan Badji, 54, who was the last person to cross the finishing line at Higginson Park. She said: “I didn’t think I was going to be able to do it at one point. Once I got to four miles my hips really hurt but I thought “no, I am going to do this, I am not going to let anyone downâ€. “I am going to be back next year.†Mrs Badji, of Amersham Hill, High Wycombe, had the operation last April and was on crutches for six weeks. She said: “It’s the taking part that counts. I’d never done a run before.â€
Mrs Badji ran for West Wycombe’s Child Bereavement Charity, which helped her family after the childbirth death of two grandchildren.
