Danzig will inspire seniors 2009: Upbeat Style

Danzig will inspire seniors

In his upbeat style, Danzig said he will tell his audience, "how each one has been a seed-planter in the garden of goodness.

I want to celebrate them, not just inform them, and that's what I decided to do." He believes everyone can make a difference -- or has made a difference -- regardless of age. Danzig, 76, who was inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame two years ago, is donating his time for the luncheon event that runs from noon to 2 p.m. at the center at 25 Delaware Ave. The $25 fee Senior Services is asking will support the organization's programs and services, said Ellen Gelting, director of marketing and editor of Senior Spotlight. Those wishing to attend should RSVP at 465-3322. The event is open to the public. "Senior services offers programs designed to promote independence and enhance quality of life, not only for seniors, but for caregivers as well," Gelting said. Senior services has its headquarters on Delaware Avenue and has a satellite center at the Westview Homes at 680 Central Ave., Albany. Programs offered include transportation for those who are living at home and can't drive, plus Meals on Wheels. At the center, luncheons and dinners are available, as well as classes, including exercise.

Senior Services also has a caregiver connection, a program that "specializes in supporting people involved in caring for their elders," Gelting said.
