Caribbean Cash Bash benefits area children

FOR FLORIDA TODAY &bull May 13, 2009 The Exchange Club of South Brevard will host its 13th annual reverse raffle charity fundraiser, the Caribbean

Cash Bash, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront in Indialantic. The event gives participants an opportunity to win one of several cash prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000. All proceeds from the event will support programs that benefit children in Brevard County, such as the Exchange Club&rsquos Yellow Umbrella Child Abuse Prevention Center and other charitable organizations. &ldquoOur Caribbean Cash Bash fundraiser has become one of those events that people look forward to because it&rsquos fun,&rdquo said Court Lewis, Exchange Club vice president. &ldquoNot only is there plenty of good food, lots of prizes and musical entertainment, but there&rsquos also the suspense of knowing that someone will walk away with a check for $10,000 just in time for summer vacation. At the same time, you know your donation is going to help children in need here in Brevard.&rdquo For a suggested donation of $100, participants will be given a ticket and one entry in the raffle. Each ticket admits two people to the event, featuring heavy hors d&rsquooeuvres catered by the Hilton, beverages including beer and wine. WA1A radio personality Timmy Vee will serve as emcee at the event.

Lewis said there also will be a silent auction of donated items.
